Default why locking lug nuts??

how many people on her have actually had there wheels stolen ?i cant see that happening and if they want them that bad locking won't help, might just slow them down..besides a lock only keeps an honest person out.

Locking lug nuts only inconvenience the owner of the car. I got rid of mine the first month I owned the car.

You may be right in a practical sense. Some things are done for defensive reasons. If you don't offer them someone will say you should have because the rims are so expensive....therefore give my client a lot of money because they suffered some distress over loosing their rims because GM did not provide them locks .... Stupid but it's a cost of doing business with all the "you owe me" attitude of a lot of people today and available lawyers to take on anything.

I guess you could say the same thing about your car keys....

If you have wheels worth stealing, a thief will circumvent any deterrent. You might as well leave your doors unlocked, at least that way after the thief has left you won't have to repair a broken door.

True, a lock only keeps an honest person out, but in this case it might slow a dishonest person down long enough for me to get my baseball bat. Besides, it is far easier and quicker just to steal the whole car. If the "pros" see wheels thay want - they will just pick up the whole car and take it - jacking up the car and pulling off the wheels is too slow and risky - of couse there are the "pros-in-training".

Here is how locking lug nuts are removed when the key is stripped or unavailable.

Not 100% sure what you guys mean by locking lug nuts? Are these lug nuts that you need an adaptor to install and take them off. Or do these lug nuts have some type of locking mechanism to them?

Every one of my lug nuts need a special adaptor to take off? I figure this is enough deterant for any thieves.

You must have splined lugs. Those are used on wheels with very tight lug bores. With a regular locking lug nut you install one per wheel and its keyed to take a non generic socket.
