Wifey thinks I'm nuts. But I'll take the top down if it's at least 50 degrees out. Hey, that's what jackets are for. She won't take her's down unless it's 75 degrees and it's light out. How about you guys? How warm must it be before you take your convertible top down???
No set temperature for me. I put the heater on full tilt if I need to, but I don't even drive the car if taking the top down isn't an option. I've driven the car in the 40's on many occasions with the top down, but I sure do prefer th 70's and a t-shirt. Can't get enough of it.
in the spring (late winter) 45 is good. in the fall, 45 is also good.
There is a huge difference between 45 in March and 45 in September.
My heated seats definitely either extend the season, or at least the enjoyment of top down cruising. A must have mod for verts!
my wife is wierd about that too. When we take the corvette i always want the top down but she will complain it is too cold. If i say lets take the Harley for a ride and it is 50 out she will be all over it.....women.. go figure. It always depends on what they want!
I think i read in the Owners manual that GM will not be responsible for anyone who puts the top down between Sept and May if the Temp. is below 60 degrees.
Guess I'm a whimp... 60-degrees for me... (if the top is off, the windows are down too !)
Another weather wimp here in northern California. We have enough days of nice weather that I don't need to put the top down on semi-nice days. I actually prefer about 65 and overcast. 80 and sunny is way too hot, but on a day like that, the evenings are usually very nice.
Problem is, I live in San Francisco and work in Santa Clara. In the summer, it's too cold in the mornings and evenings at home, and too hot during the day at work. (For those not familiar with the area it's usually 10+ degrees warmer in Santa Clara than in San Francisco.)
It's not uncommon for me to start my evening commute with the A/C on, and before I get home it's switched over to the heater.
Conclusion: I sold my (non-Vette) convertible and bought a Vette coupe.
