im going to look @ this 2003 z06 with a vortech on it tomorrow, I was wondering if there is anything I need to look for inparticular that could have problems. From what I understand there is no boost guages or anything is there an easy way to tell if it is untuned?
A stock tune and a blower don't mix. You have to get some kind of tune for it to run right or close to right.
Check the belts. The main accessory belt on vortechs is very sensitive to its alignment. Check the intercooler radiator and its hoses and the center air scoop (bottom front center under the car). Normally the center air scoop that feeds air into the radiator is spring loaded, but where they typically mount the intercooler prevents it from being spring loaded.
Make sure it isn't throwing any codes or Check Engine Light.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
Good points.
A note of additional caution:
Code can be cleared by the owner - one of two ways:
In the tune mode, or by using the DIC.
If it's done in the tune mode - you'll need someone to enter the OBDII to determine this.
If the owner cleared the codes via the DIC, it will take a minimum of 50 miles driving to have them occur again.
