I let the battery connected while the car was in cold storage with temperatures below zero for a week or so. Found out the hard way that the security system drained the battery and it froze. Tried to recharge it but no go. I just bought an AC Delco Professional battery to put in it in a couple of weeks. My stupidity, but it won't happen again.

theres a lot of hype,on that optima battery.Seem's people alway's want to join the masses,wether good or bad.I've alway's replaced with wally world brand's.And never a problem.And very affordable.If you got's the bejamin's spend them.

After my OEM battery died in my '97 at the end of its usefull life, I put in an Optima Red Top and used it for 3 trouble free years of New England (winter included) and had zero problems with it.

I have a 99 and use the 78.
It should be the same for a 98.
Do yourself as favor and get a battery tender.
You will not have anymore problems.
And the Optima's are as good as any battery, maybe better because
they won't leak or as easy.
They have a free replacement if it fails within 36 months.
My first one without a battery tender failed at 35 months, got a free one
no problem.
