Did a quick search on the internet and on the forums but didnt see anything about what the California Emissions option on the C5's did (or does), other than seeing it was a $170 option?
Does it change any way the car would normally operate?
On my 2000, CA Emissions (YF5), is listed as: No Charge. I'm not positive, but I believe it's the pup-cats in addition to the regular cats. Supposedly a 5hp loss, which was made up with a different cam for this year.
I’m thinking they are more or less the same. The YF5 means they may have had additional testing to confirm cleanliness for California. The code FE9 is a California/Northeast override option which may just mean less confirmation. The 5hp increase for 2001 was intake/cam. Not positive but I think pup cats went away after the arrival of the LT1 engine in 92.
Unable to copy from above site, but it states pup cats from 2000-2001 (Apparently some 99’s also). 2002 they went to two brick main cat. Some interesting info about half way down the page.
From the way California drivers are around here it is obvious that the California emmision package also came with the "turn signal delete option included" (free of charge of course)
