How hot do C5 rotors get with heavy braking? I am trying to find a product to coat my slotted/dimpled rotors that not only looks good but will keep the hats, slots and dimples from rusting. I coated them with 3 coats VHT when they where brand new but they started rusting within a couple of months. If anyone has any product suggestions I am all
my Baer Eradispeeds are about 3 years old and no rust. I just polish the hats once inawhile and put a toothbrush to the slots to clean them. And the car sits outside year round, so it's probably the brand you have, sorry.
they do get hot.. mine are zinc coated. a very good quality hi temp 500+ degree paint will work fine. some of the stuff people use on the headers will not prevent rust. and if they have rust on them to begin with, it will rust under the paint eventually coming thru. good prep work goes a long way.
You can use high heat (1200 F) paint on the rotor top hats and edges, I did. Don't worry about masking (except the caliper), the brake pads will clean off the braking surface. I used silver high heat rusteleom (sp?).
