Yesterday I had filled with gas--a very full tank. This morning there was a strong smell of gas and I saw where some gas had dripped out during the night. My husband put the car on ramps and then the car started steady dripping of gas. He took off the pan, wiped underneath to find where it was drippping and now there is not a drip that neither he nor I can see. Well now that the tank is going back into place it has started to leak again. Was this due to possibly being overfill of fuel or is there something else we need to check out?

It sounds like it may have been caused by an overfill. If the gas is no longer leaking, and the fumes have subsided, I would drive it to lower the level of gas in the tank, and watch it for the next few days. Some people have had trouble with the connections to the fuel filter, but given your description, I think overfill is the likely cause of your problem.
Mine dripped PROFUSELY at the left rear near the gas fill. Was the fuel filter. The plastic snap in connectors deteriorated after about 8 years.
Replaced the fuel filter and that was it. But it might just be overfilling. Let it use soime gas and when you fill dont fill it up to the top of the neck. BIGHANK
Thanks for the advice. Took another look at it this evening and did not see any "new" drips, so maybe (fingers crossed) the problem has been solved. Next fill-up I will make sure not to overfill.
I'm not so sure about this. Common sense should tell you that any car should be designed to be "topped off" and not leak gas. I think you should check in to this further.
