The PXHGM2 cable requires you to have a CORHAR cable for the 12 disc changer. You would disconnect it from your 12 disc changer and connect it to the PXHGM2 which connects to the ipod2car which connects to the ipod.
Or, for those of us who don't have the CORHAR cd changer cable, use the PXHGM4 cable directly to the back of the Bose head unit. That's what I did. Works great!
Ok I've pretty much got it now. So GTC, if I have JUST the "Single" CD Headunit, I need the PXHGM4 Cable and NOT the COR-HAR? Or do I need BOTH?
And if I had the 12 disc CD Changer, I would need JUST the COR-HAR and NOT the PXHGM4?
Just want to make this clear, because I was under the impression that if I had just the single CD changer, I would need the COR-HAR + Ipod2car, and now you are telling me different.
Yes, the IPOD2CAR is supposed to control the ipod; sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Others have had similar success.
Plus, the factory radio is far too old (1997 technology) to be able to display track/title information. You'll need to go to the aftermarket for that feature. That said, the IPOD2CAR has very good sound quality. Many leave the IPOD concealed, and only use it to change play lists.

The GM IPOD2CAR package has an adapter that plugs into the changer's cable in the trunk/hatch area. Because you don't have this, you have two options.
1. Purhchase the GM IPOD2CAR and GMH20T cable (which is a shorter version of the changer's cable).
2. Purchase the universal IPOD2CAR and PXHGM4, which replaces the multiple cables used in the first example.

What he said. I didn't realize that the GMH20T cable is just a shorter version of the cd changer cable. So if you are using the PXHGM2, you also need either the CORHAR or GMH20T changer (or short) cable.
Or you could get the PXHGM4 and forget about any short or long changer cables.
This can easily get confusing, and I'm learning some things along the way.

Ok so to make this final, for the factory HU (SINGLE cd player) I would need the:
Ipod2car GM-Specific (PXHGM2)
Micah I did read your post. However, this is the part I was confused about...
This to me means that you are leaving slack in order to change the music from the Ipod?
I want to be able to change the music from the HU and see the track titles and such...
I did this for two reasons, one, to be able to read the face of the ipod if I desire and two, to allow my wife to mess with it if she wants. YOU can use the HU to change your song selections.

Ok see, now it all makes sense
Micah, you said you cut a hole in the center console in order to fit the cord through... How did you do this? And do you think there is any other way to hide the Ipod wiring without doing it like you did?
I am kind of skeptical about cutting holes in the car

I took a dremel and if you look at the photo below you will notice that it really isn't thta big and it really will only be noticed by you and who ever you decide to show.

PXHGM4.
That's it right!??
If you have PXHGM4, you don't need the GM-Specific ipod2car or the PXHGM2 cable. You can get the generic ipod2car + PXHGM4. The PXHGM4 will connect between your ipod2car and Bose head unit, and that's it.
If you do get the GM specific ipod2car (like I did before I realized everything) plus the PXHGM4, you'll have a few unused left-over cables including the PXHGM2.
Here is how I got the wire into my center console. I removed the cig lighter (you have to twist it so that the ***** line up at the top and push it out, rotate 180, push other side out). Then I used my drill with a drill bit slightly wider than the main wire. I put in a hole slightly below the cig lighter opening, and then connected that hole to the cig lighter hole. I put the wire in place and reinstalled the cig lighter. Maybe I should have put it more to the left, but it is where it is now.

So it is either:
The GM Specific (Corvette) Ipod2car KIT
OR
The Generic Ipod2car + the PXHGM4
????
In other words if I got the GM-specific (corvette model) Ipod2car... that is ALL I would need as far as cables and wires and all that crap?
I put the wire in place and reinstalled the cig lighter. Maybe I should have put it more to the left, but it is where it is now.
PS - I like that idea better because it is a very small hole and no one will every know the difference without a wire coming from in there.
The GM specific ipod2car kit is a compilation of 4 items:
1. generic ipod2car
2. PXHGM1 cable
3. PXHGM2 cable
4. PXHGM3 cable
To connect this to your car, you would also need either a CORHAR cd changer harness or the GMH20T cable (which is a short version of the cd changer harness). This is not included in the GM specific kit. The cd changer harness (or GMH20T) would plug into the back of the bose radio on one end, and to the PXHGM2 cable on the other end. The PXHGM2 would also be connected to the ipod2car box.
----------------
Or, IMHO, a more simple way to get connected is to use
1. generic ipod2car
2. PXHGM4 cable
The PXHGM4 cable connects directly to the bose head unit and to the ipod2car.
------
There may be other setups that will work, but these are the 2 that I know of.
