you can find a nice used one for half of that $.....as for performance, you will notice improved throttle response, and your vette will have a better exhaust note...but don't expect a big power gain...but for the money its a nice mod. and it looks sweet too!

I got a C5 ZO6 filter cover for $50 which is the same as stock it just has a little bigger air opening to the filter. I still have the stock air filter cover so think i will put some even bigger holes in it and then bring a little fresh air in from the air dam behind the filter where the air comes in to the radiator. Bet that gives you as much air and more fresh air, as a custom intake, we'll see.
I went the way of the Blackwing and I defnitely noticed better throttle response. My wife noticed it also. The car is breathing much better now.
Found mine, used, on ebay, $140 shipped.
A little oil and cleaner from WCC= >$20
SLP Blackwing coupler from WCC= >$25
Used Blackwing on ebay= $140
Noticable throttel response in my C5 for under $200 = PRICELESS

I purchased a REALLY nice used Blackwing here on the forum from a member for $150 shipped. I would be patient and buy a nice used one. However if you can't wait, you can find great deals here via supporting vendors, or e-bay.
My $0.02,
Thinking about purchasing the Black Wing air filter. Is it worth the money??
Not for what you get out of it.
Can you tell a difference in performance?
Well for sure, all the "seat o' the pants" people will tell you otherwise, but in all reality, what little improvement you might get, you won't feel.
For 300.00 I want to be sure.
Thanks all.
Don't blame you one bit for questioning that purchase. Personally, I'd say go the "zip tie" method on the intake, and use the 300 clams as a down payment on a good set of long tube headers.
