I use it. I'm not sure about it being better than Mobil 1 or giving me anymore horsepower, but I like it.

The company that built our C5R-427 recommended RP, so I use RP 10W30 on the street & 10W40 Racing Oil for the track. We did a dyno after the first oil change and the RWHP increased by 5. I am not sure that I believe that, but if you reduce friction you could get more power.

What I did was test it at the track. The Mobil 1 lost pressure when it got hot, the RP street oil held pressure much better, the RP Racing Oil did lose it at all.

Let's face it, GM recommends Mobil 1 because that's where they got their best $$$ deal. And it is probably adequate for average driving. I use RP because I am not an average driver.

Even after hard driving, there is no noticeable drop in oil pressure.

i just replaced all my fluids with royal purple last month and what i have noticed is that when i shift, it seems to take more of an effort to get into gear, especially 1st. i'm thinking about adding an additive to it, like the lucas automatic additive.

I have been using the purple stuff in my boosted car for the last 6k and no issues and plenty of oil pressure under boost while out in the hill country for extended blasts even last summer when the temps approached 100 on several runs

Me too

I have not dyno mine, and it might just be me but it seem to have a lot more
GO.

I do know for sure it made the differential and trans more quite.

I am using it and I will continue to use it, better pressure, my car does seem to burn oil at the rate it did with MOBIL 1 and it really isn't that hard to get.

Been using it in every part in every car since 1999. Love the purple stuff.

Default Royal Purple Customer Service

I went to the Royal Purple website and was a bit overwhelmed with all of the products available. So I sent an email to them indicating make and model of my car and I got this response within twenty minutes:

Ronnie, for your Corvette we recommend:

RP 5W30 or 10W30 Motor Oil - with XPR 5W30 for the ultimate oil.
RP Synchromax for the 6 speed.
RP MaxGear 75W90 for the rear differential
RP MaxEZ Power Steering Fluid for the power steering system
RP Purple Ice Coolant Additive added at 1 oz per quart of system capacity.

Cheers,

David

I really appreciated them breaking the code for me and the timeliness.

There is an excellent article in the Sept. 2006 issue of Corvette Enthusiast magazine. According to their test on a dyno the Royal Purple showed an increase of 3.8 hp and 4.8 torque. They left the car strapped down and changed the oil. They didn't want any change in tension in the straps. I will let you draw your own conclusions. I am changing at my next oil change.

Another RP user here. My car burns less oil with the purple stuff in there. Drove her to PA and back to So-Cal, 10,000 miles and only used up less than 1 quart.

Just put it in mine for the first time this last oil change after I saw this. Also have used it in our race cars for several seasons. Yes there is more HP and yes during teardown the insides look brand new.
Definitely as good, and maybe better than M-1, so why not try it.

well I just bought RP for the tranny and Diff, but bought Mobil 1 for the engine. I guess when the next oil change comes I will switch over to RP but I only cruise with my car, don't have time to do anything else so I think Mobil 1 should suffice, but yeah the tranny and diff get the good stuff.

Either way I would always spend more if I was tracking the car, but if your a weekend cruiser I wouldn't worry to much, its all good.

My Mobil 1 synthetic gives me 3.5 extra rwhp: a real "seat of the pants" difference.

I have used RP like i Redline over RP, Redline seems to last longer on oil life on DIC which to me means better protection
