Sams Club 91 octane was the only thing in the fuel tank of my GN when it has dropped into the 11's. Course there's nothing but pure methanol in the alky tank
Been known to use it in the Vette, but not exclusively.

I absolutely refuse to put gas in my car for 30 minutes after the gas station accepts a shipment of gas.
I told the station owner that I did not want the (stirred-up) gasoline carrying all of the dirt and water into my gas tank.
He reassured me that his FILTERS would protect that from happening. My response to his statement was: That is my point. (When I pour a glass of milk at a restaurant or snack bar, they DO NOT HAVE FILTERS.)
Anyway, I steer clear of older looking gas stations. There is an older gas station in Pearl, Miss--near Jackson. Prices are 10 cents less than all other stations in the entire area. Never any cars in line.
I don't know it for a fact, but I suspect he has contamination problems with his gasoline. No cars = I will not buy gas there.

The list of top tier gas companies includes a "Murphy Oil Co." Anyone know who they are? I use Sam's in my DD and truck sometimes, but not in the Vette anymore since I had my first gas guage issue. Chevron or Texaco only for it.

In reality, the filters prevent this.

Do an internet search for "Top Tier Gasoline" and you will get a list of the best stations.

this is acurate. and the additives are mostly for marking purposes. there's little or no difference as to how fuel burns, no matter where you get it, as long as the octane is correct.

I have not used Sam's gas in any vehicle. We use the local BJ's wholesale club gas all the time in the wife's SUV and the van before that, no issues and the prices are My Vette gets Chevron 93 only.

Personally, I believe gas quality is more dependent on station maintenance practices than on brand. I believe most brands are of pretty decent quality. Just my personal experience.

well maybe the chevron near my house serves up a different mix, because it cause somewhat a shake at idle, next after a few other stations did the same, I started to use the mobil station by me and no more problems. Tried the mobil in the next city, same problem as before. I use my car as a weekend treat so before I leave I always fill up. no problems so far

I'm not an expert on this but I am somewhat familiar with how gas is purchased and delivered to a station. Fuel is delivered by whats called a jobber. A jobber can deliver more than one brand. If your station displays a sign from Shell, BP, Exxon, Mobil, Chevron, etc. then it's considered a branded station and that's the fuel you get. If you station does not have a brand name displayed from one of the oil companies then it is considered an unbranded station. Sam's is considered unbranded. What unbranded stations get delivered is the cheapest brand out there and it changes day by day. one day it could be Mobil, the next day it could be Shell, etc. That how they are able to be cheaper, most of the time, than branded.

This is an "Old Wives's Tale". Think of it this way: The outlet is at the bottom of the tank, if there was dirt in the tank, then stirring it up would take some of the dirt away from the outlet. This would then be the best time to get gas !
In reality, the filters prevent this.

I cant speak for all gas tanks but the outlet in our gas station is not at the bottom on the tank because there is about 800-1000 gallons that does not get pumped.
Oh and around here, it pretty much all comes from the same place. We are a Citgo station and the oil company we use pulls from a terminal that is Citgo, Exxon, Texaco and Chevron. I dont think its that big of a deal.
