I pulled the carpets out of my C5 and went to some carpet cleaning places but they won't do it because it's too small a job
Looks like I'll have to do it myself. Someone told me to take it to a do it yourself carwash and scrub it down with an engine degreaser brush and then hose it down.

What do you guys think?
I like Simple Green for most stuff like that... I just did my work truck today...
Simple Green is effective and non-acidic...
...Just my .02¢
If you have access to a wet/dry shop vac I have a pretty good way of cleaning carpeting. I Pre-treat stains with Shout or some other brand of laundry stain remover then I mix a fairly high concentration of laundry detergent with warm water and generously apply this to the carpeting with a medium stiff brush. Let it sit for about 5 minutes then vac up water and dirt. Repeat the process if necessary. After completing, let the car dry with the windows open for the day and vac one last time. Carpeting will usually look like new when complete. I have been detailing cars like this for years with no complaints.

Check with the folks over in the Car Care Discussion section of the Forum. Several very knowledgeable people and a few professional detailers hang out there and some of them should be able to provide you with some advice/recommendations.
I've found that most carpet cleaning products sold as a spray or foam sold at most automotive parts stores like Pep Boys, Auto Zone, Kragen, etc. work extremely well. Will remove almost any stain. Like a previous post said, check out the car care section, or go to Autopia.com and find out what the pros use.
