Took my 98 in for a state inspection. The guy comes out and says......"You need new wiper blades". Turns out mine were not only dry rotted but when he went to check them, they stuck to the windshield and pulled apart
What can I say......I have other cars to drive when it rains
PS- my main worry about inspection was my tinted side windows (20%). Turns out it's not an inspection item in VA, but I can a get a ticket.

I did not know CORVETTES came with wiper blades i thought it was just a tasteless mod
Wiper blades must be the current trend to rip off people who bring cars in for state inspection. Wife took her '04 Escape in for an inspection the other day and they told her it wouldn't pass without new front and rear wipers. I didn't ask her how much they charged for the new blades and installation.

I removed my windshield wipers 3 years ago. Knock on wood, I have yet to get caught in the rain.
I regularly use mine - and the washers too - at least turn em on at the car wash.
I did not want the fluid to stagnate in the washer fluid reservior, and the wipers need to cycle once in a while IMO.
I had a 1986 Mustang GT that I bought new and was extremely **** about (garaged, covered, had to be mostly sunny, low humidity etc etc....before I would get it out.)
After I had owned it for three years, I finally realized that I had never ever turned on the wipers - and I thought I should at least see if they WORKED.
Many years ago, I briefly had a college roommate who always parked illegally when he went to class, and was getting tickets every single day. He decided to remove his windshield wipers so they wouldn't have any place to stick the tickets. These days, they'd bring out the wheel lock for these types of nutcases.
I inadvertently turned on my windshield wipers the other day. After getting the ipod2car box installed, I was reassembling the center console trim, and it or my elbow knocked it on. Hopefully they'll still work in another 5 months when I go in for inspection.
