The lone exception was the 2003 cars - they had a 50th Anniversary logo on the key. If you are that intent on having one of those for your car - you can order the key blanks from Ecklers or any of the other catalog houses.
All you would have to do is determine which VATS chip is on your key - and that can be done by using a digital volt meter, and reading the impedence in ohms - and then referring to this chart -
VATS key codes
You need to read the resistance of the key. If you have a digital volt meter, set it on ohms mode and measure the resistance of the pellet on your key. The BCM is programmed for a specific resistance value. The BCM measures the voltage drop across the key pellet. If it is within +/-10%, then the car will start.
The 15 resistor codes are:
Key# Value (Ohms)
1 392
2 523
3 681
4 887
5 1130
6 1470
7 1870
8 2370
9 3010
10 3740
11 4750
12 6040
13 7500
14 9530
15 11800
Once you order the right key and receive it - all you need is a locksmith that can cut a double sided key, and you have a key with a Corvette logo on it. Pretty simple. Hope this helps!
I saw in Eckler's catalog they have a flip out key/fob for Corvettes for $99. Looks pretty cool but I just paid $50 for a new FOB as it is. I wonder if anyone else has em cheaper. I remember a while back someone was custom making them on the forum and selling them.
That doesnt bother me all that much, since the keys are mass produced for other automobiles.
However, I like the fact that the car itself has many references to the Corvette (steering wheel, passenger dash, seats, etc) unlike the 99 T/A I owned which had a single pontiac badge on the steering wheel. I always thought that the T/A was the "over the top" car in terms of decals and whatnot, but I guess that changed in the 90's.

but look on the bright side, no one knows its the keys for a corvette so they'll have less chance of stealin' em!
I like the steath-ness of the key... wouldn't know it's for a Vette... except for the shiny cross-flags key chain and "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" tag hanging off it!
