Default Keyfobs for Dummies?

Took the C5 out for the first time today since October 31st, and the battery in the keyfob went ka-blooey. Went to the drugstore and bought a new one and installed it. I'm sure there is a way to reprogram it so it communicates with your car.

Anyone want to link me to the "keyfob for dummies" thread on the forum?

Hold down the lock and unlock buttons at the same time until the horn honks.

Stand next to the car, press and hold both the lock & unlock buttons, wait for the horn to honk. Your good to go. Been a long time but I think that's right.

Guess that only works if the fob has been programed for the car prior to huh. I bought a new fob and just tried that and it did not work.

Look in your owners manual and it tells you how to program the fob using the DIC. Or you can hold the lock and unlock buttons down until the horn honks.

There are different fobs for different years. You sure you got the correct fob?

if the fob hasnt been previously programed to the ccar you will have to program it thru the DIC.

IF the hold down both buttons till the horn honks would work on an unprogramed fob, anyone with a fob could easily unlock your car with their fob.

My new one won't even do it through the DIC.
It just sits there forever.
Lesson learned, make sure keys are out of pocket before washing pants.
