Same here. Broken hip, broken shoulder, broken ankle, 13 broken ribs, punctured lung. Still hurts 20 years later.

I also have both, and will keep them. Also, you cannot compare a Harley with a sport bike; they are totally different. One's for cruising, the other is for performance, just like a Vette versus a Caddy.

Sold the GSX-R to afford the Vette... no brainer here, although every now and then I miss twisting that throttle. Makes the Z06 feel like a Kia.

Yep... it was kept in the living room.

Because motorcycles don't interest me in the least it would have to be the Vette.

I'd keep the vette, but it's kind of biased since i wouldn't own a Harley... sorry!

They are two completely different toys, motorcycles and corvettes. On one hand, you can drive the vette year round... jump in it and go.

On the other, my VFR gets almost 50 mpg on long distance and will run 11's. It's awesome because its a VTEC... yeah?

Takes a while to put the leathers on, while in the vette I just put on a seat belt.

Although, on the VFR I find the twistiest routes I can, just like the I do with the Vette. They are both silver. I suppose you could say they are like siblings in my garage... well, adopted siblings.

Obviously LAYNLOW has never owned a Harley else wouldn't be asking but...

The simple answer is, if you can afford both, own both 'cuz they are like apples and oranges.

But, if you can only afford one ...,

Owning a Harley almost ALWAYS requires a lifestyle change (I've been riding longer (47 yrs) than I've been driving (45 years) cages)

The words in the pic above say it all but until you own a Harley you'll never know.

Owning a Corvette is owning another cage no matter how you look at it. I own both. Love both for what they are and represent (i.e. American icons).

In a nutshell I'd compare the ownership experiences of each to the experiences of tent camping vs. staying in a motel. You need to be prepared to camp and willing to suffer/enjoy a few hardships from day to day and expect to strike up temporary friendships with your camp neighbors.

Whereas it takes no skill to spend the night in a motel and you'd be hard pressed to even find the opportunity or desire to talk to whomever is staying in the room next to you .

Have you ever parked your Corvette IN your motel room? And slept along side it? Done that with the Harley many times!

When driving your Corvette, how often do you see little kids press their noses up against the back window staring and waving at you hoping to get your attention back?

How many times have you passed a school bus and had 1/2 the bus wave at you as you go by?

How many times have you driven your Corvette through a small country town and had residents sitting on their front porch look up from their afternoon tea and wave or lift their cup to you?

Or had the kids chase you on their bicycles?

For every time its happened while driving the vette, its happened 20 times (probably more) while riding the Harley.

Every had soldiers with automatic weapon's guard your Corvette while you stop to use the john?

Like I said, owning a Harley is a lifestyle change...

Now you make the call!

Bottomline: It's all good!

I have both, and as far as bikes I enjoy my Road Star Warrior more than the Harley, has way more power than the usual Harley big twin.

What drives me nuts, is the price of a Harley. If a typical Harley is truly worth 20k, then there isn't a car out there that should be less than 200k. When you start comparing material cost, either cars are way under priced, or Harleys are way overpriced.

I use to think it was because of supply and demand. When I bought my Harley back in '96 I was on a waiting list, and you practically had to take whatever color of bike came along.

Now, Harley showrooms are always full, and Harleys are all over the road. So why haven't prices come down ?

It's not just about the bike, read above post. I don't down any bike and the Roadstar is a nice one. But if and when you sell it, you will see the difference, the Harley is worth $$$, no matter how old it is. A 6-7 year old roadstar will bring little money in return. I don't make the rules, they are just there....Oh, by the way. A vette holds it's value better than most domestic vehicle as well, but you can still get a nice one for half the cost of a new one, only a few years later. Thank God, or I would not have my vette.

It's just a choice of lifestyle that everyone is entitled to.....although
some lifestyles are more deadly than others.

Default I Own Both...

A 1990 FXR that I bought new, and a 1997 C5 coupe. I love them both, but if one HAD to go, I think it would be the Harley. Even though I've been riding motorcycles since I first got my license. Even after a serious accident in 1995 (lost left leg below knee), I could not give up the Harley. That gives you some idea how much us Harley guys love our bikes. But as we get older (59) our tastes change. I'm sure as I grow even older, the bike will eventually have to go, and that, my friends, will be a sad day indeed.

If the time to sell one comes, and if your Vette's a convertible, keep the Vette. If it's not, keep the Harley.

I went with both, but I'll have to admit during the summer months the Harley is the ride of choice.

That's true, but considering Harleys are all over the road now, you would think the demand for new ones would drop. Grab any bike trader type of magazine, and their full of used Harleys.

My main complaint though, is when you compare the material used to make a bike with a car, it isn't even close, yet the prices are not that far apart.

I agree with your assesment of the price of a Roadstar, yet it's funny at the same time, because for every Roadstar I see, I'll see twenty Harleys !
