My definition of drone is the "HUM" that you hear when you are cruising at about 75 mph in 6th gear at around 1700rpm.
My definition of resonance is the "VIBRATION" that you feel when you are running through any gear at around 2200rpm.
From my experience, the X-pipe made the resonance louder than the stock H-pipe and the drone was actually slightly quieter.
As for gurgle and popping, it was improved but not eliminated.
As for my exhaust history, I had Borla Stingers on a stock H-pipe, SLP Loudmouths on a stock H-pipe, SLP Loudmouths on a Corsa X-pipe and now have Corsa Pace Cars on a Corsa X-pipe.
I use my car as a daily driver in NJ so the Pace Cars are perfect for the winter months where the windows are up and the top is on. The SLP Loudmouths aare perfect for the summer months where the windows are down and the top is off! And yes, I plan on changing the cat-back back and forth every 6 months!

If anyone could help clear this up for me it would be greatly appreciated as I'm still trying to figure out whether or not to add the X-pipe to my car. Thanks!
The x-pipe has better flow than the stock h-pipe by allowing the pressure on one side of the system to crossover to the other side before exiting through the cat-back. The way I see it, there are two phases of an exhaust system: the acceleration sound and the deceleration sound. This crossover will reduce the gurgle and popping associated with backpressure on deceleration that the H-pipe does not regulate, but since the flow is increased, the resonance and drone that is associated with acceleration will change too. In my setup, the resonance got much louder and the drone got softer. I am no expert on the subject by any means, I just have had a lot of fun over the past three years swapping systems to find the perfect sound. Hope this helps.

I have Borla stingers on my a4 and I love them. After my smog check coming up this fall, I'm going for the cat-deletes to open her up, and get ready for the APS Twin turbo kit I'm saving up for.

They aren't the loudest exhaust, but Borlas are DEFINETLY not one of the quietest.

Go for a ride with some guys who have them. See if you'd really be able to handle the drone and the popping/gurgling sounds or not(they don't bother me one bit as it's music to my ears but each person is different).

The x does not eliminate the drone, but does tone it down quite a bit.
