Default i = the problem with society

So i got fired today.
And it's not the end of the world because I wasn't enjoying my job or my life since I started that job. So now I get to choose a new career.
The ones I like will be a cut in pay so I am going to take my time looking and collect some unemployment.

So here I am the junk at the bottom of the barrell, I drive a vette and I'm on unemployment.

While I feel bad at least my only debt is on the vette so I can live on a crappy job if the need arises, until then I am scum.

and here's my girl

How come you got fired?
I was 17 or so and went to the unemployment office in
my friends Vette like 20 years ago and got $51.00.

Good luck,
Paul G.

I got layed of 1/31/07. Started a new job the following Monday.

I make less, but I like my new job a whole lot more. Oh yeah, I got a nice severance and 4 weeks vacation pay. I payed off the Vette and banked some cash!

I hope everything works out as well for you

I'm new to this but I was working for a good salary as an engineer so I hope I get more than $51, and I will take heed the advice and show up in my ratty old saturn .
I was quoted as being terminated for job performance but I was still in training for the job for another 6 months and I was constantly asking for more to do. I think it had some higher corporate/political motives.
I don't like the desk work of an engineer so I am going to try for a machinist or millwright job. If all else fails I guess i will go teach the youth, they seem to take anyone

bummer dude. its happened to the best of us. my dad used to say that my theme song was ' take this job and shove it ' life is too short to stay in a job that you don't like, so wait till you find one that you will enjoy, or at least one that you will not dread going to.

Hang in there and take your time finding something that you will enjoy. Here in northcentral Pa job cutting is the norm anymore. Look at it as an opportunity! Good luck.

If you can find a job you truly enjoy, with less pay you will end up being the envy of all around you.

Hmmm.. in California I don't think you can get unemployment from being fired. You had to have been "layed" (laid) off.

Sorry to hear about the job bro! Take some time and regroup and think about what you would be happy doing, then go for it. I was miserable for years, then one day i said f@#k this!!! I now work for the government (no jokes) and love my job! I made a little more money before but a job with GREAT benefits, AWESOME retirement and NO stress or worry of layoffs is priceless. Hang in there buddy, you will do just fine. You will be fine,, you know why?? Because you are smart, and smart people always come out on top my friend! In our society now with all the idiots, it's easy for us smart and motivated people to shine through. Remember that!!

Something positive may come of it. Just keep your options open, your chin high and stay happy and positive.
My company laid off so many people and in between layoffs they "fired" people for bad performance.
These people were not performing badly. They were just not liked by the management click and since they were kind of new and the budget was shrinking, they got the axe.
Also we would fire people for "performance" and then hire in the boss's old friends from other jobs the next week.

So dont let it make you feel like a loser.

Oh BTW, my whole office was acquired by a huge company 2 years ago.

2 weeks ago they told us that they were turning the lights out on us at the end of March. We were all shocked.
I'll get severance and I have an offer coming in from a better more stable company.

I'm a software engineer.

I'm also sorry to hear about your misfortune.

I was not aware that you get unemployment compensation if you are fired. Also, I don't really think it matters what kind of car you take when you apply for unemployment. The amount received is based on your past salary and a few other items.

In any case, good luck.
