2004 Steering lock
Hey all,
This might be a stupid Q, but
I can still turn the steering wheel after I pulled the key out.
This is a 2004 with just 6xxx miles
Is this normal?

Prior owner probably installed a Column Lock by-pass or it was disabled at the dealer

I thought it was the 6Sp that required the column lock bypass?
Why would dealer disable it, is it an electrical lock of sorts?

I think automatics the dealer removes the locking plate. Someone will know. There are many many threads on this subject

I believe with A4s there is no lock - I think the factory stopped putting them in A4s before 2004....

I think you are right. I have a 2004 (build date 01/08/04) and no lock!

Yup, according to the column lock sticky (
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1015483 ), they stopped putting the lock on A4s after 2000....

My 2001 doesn't have a column lock either - remove the key and wheel turns side to side
