Life is short anyway but what there is has to have some meaning to a person. There's an old saying goes something like this "If you like where your are today, keep doing what you are doing. If you don't like where you are today, change what you are doing or you will be in the same place tomorrow."
We all need determination to change. My prayers are that she finds it with you and others helping.
My prayers are with you, her and your whole families. Stay with her, help her through this, once she realizes her weaknesses she'll be stronger. Stay in the faith and stay focused on God, put him in the center and all else will fall in place around him.

As adults, a lot of us forget how hard it was to go through those teenage years and deal with the pressures of the world. I know how hard it was for me to be 17 back in the early 80's......I can only guess what it must be like in today's times. I see a lot of what goes on around me and also what I see on TV, and I often say to myself: "Man I'm so glad I'm not a kid growing up in these times"!!!
I've been where you're at and know exactly what you're going through bud. We just buried my brother in law a few months ago from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head because he couldn't deal with some problems he was going through. We all said: "How could he make a permanent decision like that to a temporary problem?" Unfortunately none of us were in his head or feeling what he was going through at that moment in time, so, it's hard for us to really judge him or anyone else when they do some like this.
I hope your girlfriend finds the kind of help she needs, whether it's just support from family and friends or even if it has to be something on a professional level. Either way, let her know that things will get better and that there are many people who really care. I will keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers.
Wow... Hang in there, both of you and seek the help she needs. Make sure you get some help or at least someone to talk to for your own sake... Our prayers are with you!!
