Hi everybody,
Alright I am daily 04 corvette driver and it is time to change the brakes on my vette. I've done the front a 1.5 years ago, but now I need to change both sets of front and rear. I am little nervous and want some guidance to refresh my memory. (preferrably with pictures)
I good friend recommended a pair of carbon metallic brakes from autozone for 34 bucks and since I am not a racer of any kind, I am sure these will suit me well.
I did mine recently and used those same carbon metallic pads and they work pretty good (I got them from Autozone, so I am guessing they are the same).
Don't have pics of the install, but it was pretty easy, just loosen a bolt and slide the caliper of the rotor then pop the pads out.
One thing to look out for is that there are only two pads that have a wear indicator on them, so be sure not to put both those pads on the same wheel (don't ask how I know)
I replaced both front and rear with OEM pads. Put new GM solid rotors on the front ($22.80 ea at GM Wholesaler) While you're at it ADJUST the Parking brake star wheels UNDER the rear rotors. My P brake now WORKS after not working for 5 years. Buy some duplicolor brush on caliper paint and after thoroughly cleaning the calipers paint them using several coats of paint. Top it off with some white paint on the front corvette logo. Mine looks like a Z06. BIGHANK
