Default Do you like deceleration popping?

I took a friend for a ride the other day, it was his first time in a vette.
He loved everything about the car except the deceleration popping. He said it sounded "broken" or there is something wrong. I just laughed and said "That's what a race car sounds like". I recently had Corsa Indy's put on so the popping is in abundance. Me personally, I love it!
Sounds race!

No. Have to say I don't like it. I had the same initial reaction as your friend about it sounding broken or something. My motorcycle used to do it too...hated it!

It must be the younger drivers who have never heard an engine with a glass pack muffler mounted on it. Even without mufflers a C5 can't come close to the popping one of those would make when the car was downshifted and the engine backed down. Do that late at night on a residential street and the lights would come on in all the houses. They were real ticket magnets. Every community had laws against them.

I thought about this same thing tonight on the way home from work. It is kind of annoying to me. Mine has Corsa Indys. Back in the day, this was a common problem with the A.I.R. pump. Does this cause the popping on these cars or is it just from this type of exhausts? Combination of both? I am still a newbie when it comes to C5's having only had one since January of this year.

I hate the popping, that is probably the one thing I hate about this car.

No, I don't like it. That's why I installed an x-pipe on mine - solved about 95% of the popping.

Really? I have an x-pipe and there's TONS of popping when I want there to be, it's just more muffled. I guess each system is different.

I used to have a 68 vert with Doug Thorley headers, 2.5-inch pipes and Dynomax superturbo mufflers - real 60s musclecar sound. That thing popped even more than my Borlas do and yes, it IS the sound of a V8 racecar of old. This is why I love it.

I have stock exhaust (upgraded exhaust from 2002) and I love popping. It is my favorite thing (even better than idle or reving).

With the Ti cat-back mine only does it occasionally, but I like it. If you're getting a lot of it after mods it can be a sign that your tune is off.
