Body shop guys used to do that with a white crayon to cover the deductable. Mark up the whole side of the car for the insurance adjuster to take pics of. The colision shop gets paid to paint the car, the deductable gets taken care of, the adjuster gets his cut and everybody's happy. Thats just what it looks like to me.

The scratches were all fake, if you look at them, they all look the same scratches , just put on different sides of the panel- RIP-OFF.
