The trunk is the hard part. The passenger cabin is easy. Once you take the seats out and front cabin, you'll wish you would have done it sooner. Very easy and a great chance to clean the carpets thoroughly.

Definitely worth it IMHO! But the front is not as important as the back, at least not for my '01 Vert.

Now get to work and do the front. It's well worth it in heat reduction alone. The seats are easy to remove, and don't forget to give everything a good cleaning while it's out.

Nice to have less noise inside the car. Congrats on a good mod.

Default Vert noise

I've been thinking about doing it in my Vert, but don't think I would get as big a bang for the buck with wind noise etc coming through the top, or with the top down. Still thinking....

I only used 3 rolls. I did the area behind the seats all the way back and including the very back area around the latches.

So I took a test drive this afternoon. Yes it did make a difference. I have GY run flats with 30K on them so it was loud. I would say that it took at least 50% of the noise away. You still hear the tires hum and road/tire noise but now it is like muffled. I actually could hear the stock exhaust as I down shifted.

I feel that it was worth the 3 rolls at $16 apiece for reduction in noise I achieved. I am not sure I will get into taking the front apart and doing that section.

If you haven't done this it is worth the time and the small dollar amount.
I did this too, thank Mike, but I did it all, what I really liked was that the heat around my feet was cut in half

Default Corvette road noise

Does this stuff reduce noise as well as Dynamat? I is there a big weight difference between the two?

There is some debate on dynamat and other stuff. Dynamat is quite heavy, like tar, and more expensive by far. I want something that is more absorbent, like a sound studio wall. I bought the Frost King stuff per Mikes article last night, and will install this afternoon. Just my opinion...............

Did it this weekend and test drive was very positive. Not sure, maybe 50% better, need to drive more but very obvious improvement. Rear area took about 4 hours, each rear wheel area about 1.5 hrs . Will do the front later on. Well worth the time and small cost of material.
Wife even agreed, how about that !!

Wait until you do the wheel wells! That's where I started last year after getting some tips from MM. The difference is very noticable.

Thanks Mike. The recent addition of PS2's (from the EMT's) was a huge noise reduction. Now I want more!
I'm going to give this FrostKing a try.

Curious, Are FRC's any quieter than coupes due to the more enclosed trunk area? I've never been in a FRC.

Frost King won't make as big of a difference as the kit from Exotic Vette, and the kit from Exotic Vette won't make as big of a difference as Dynamat. The difference I'm referring to here is noise reduction. There's a big difference in cost. I used 9 rolls of Frost King, and it did help a good deal. I did the complete interior, trunk, and rear wheel wells. It cost me about $150. I congratulate the guy who only used 3 rolls, but I covered and double covered a few areas. Had a problem with my storage compartments in back after doing this. Lesson learned, and I cut around the latches when I then redid the whole Vette with Exotic Vette kit.

The Exotic kit was $225, and worked much, much better. The material isn't heavier just "puffier". I also coupled the insulation kit with a rear partition for my convertible, as well as a rear cargo mat. Why all this insulation when I had already taken off my run craps, because I put on a set of B&B bullets! Not much is gonna take that "noise" away!! But, overall, when cruising, the Exotic insulation kit and partition work well.

Dynamat would be great, but I'll be damned, or crazy, if I'm gonna go thru pulling the seats and carpet again! It's worth it to do the insulation, but it takes time and patience. Dynamat is up around $1500 to $1600, but I've heard it works great. They did an install in Vette magazine awhile back.

I have B&Bs too...I think I need some dynamat insulation...
