I finally got motivated sound proofed the rear compartment. I took out everything like Mike said. I bought 4 rolls of Frost King. I worked at this on and off over two days. I have a bad disc and bending over into the truck area really put some pains in my back.
I only used 3 rolls. I did the area behind the seats all the way back and including the very back area around the latches.
So I took a test drive this afternoon. Yes it did make a difference. I have GY run flats with 30K on them so it was loud. I would say that it took at least 50% of the noise away. You still hear the tires hum and road/tire noise but now it is like muffled. I actually could hear the stock exhaust as I down shifted.
I feel that it was worth the 3 rolls at $16 apiece for reduction in noise I achieved. I am not sure I will get into taking the front apart and doing that section.
If you haven't done this it is worth the time and the small dollar amount.

I did the same thing in my vert plus I did the wheel wells. Followed Mike's write up. A world of difference and probably lost 75% of the noise from the tires. The only problem is that at 70 now I hear a little wind noise.
I will do the same real soon as my wife and I have a hard time even talking in the car. I saw on an earlier tread where a guy even pulled down the rear plastic wheel house liners and stuffed house insulation into the voids and lined with some Frost King.
Thanks for the end result sound info, was wondering if any good.
You've all got me convinced, too. It sounds like you get some good improvement for not too much cost and a little work. I think I'll tackle it. Thanks for all the write ups.

I have not done the Frost King yet, but did stuff the wheel wells with insulation. BIG IMPROVEMENT!!....easy and quick too.
