Well basically like the title says. I am a DIY newbie and I am looking for some help. In about 3 weeks I am taking on my first do it yourself project which will be my GHL catback, and in another week after that or so, will be taking on some AR Headers. **I have all the parts, jackstands, ramps, tools, etc. I have turned wrenches before, just need some of the "know how" if you will.
What I am looking for is maybe some websites with information that helped the DIY guy inside of you get started?
A diagram of the C5 engine and where the parts are located for instance. I mean I know the basics, but I need a lot more information.
And please don't tell me if I am asking, I shouldn't be doing. I mean come on, all you DIY guys out there had to start somewhere and this is my turn.
They can order you one at Autozone they have a ton already but usually not corvette ones
Thiers might be called Hayes or something but i had one for my old car and it worked well. Maybe keep an eye one in the sale section for the c5 manualls

Your best bet is to look at that auction site and find a factory service manual for your year car. They can be found for a lot less than buying one new - but if you have to have a brand new manual - Corvette Central among others sells them for about $160.

Sorry, but you cannot buy the GM C5 Shop manuals (Helm) at Autozone and no one else makes them - not Hayes, Chilton etc.
What exactly would this $160 worth of pages give me? Is it going to TELL me how to do stuff.
I mean most of the stuff I need to know how to "DO", I could find on the internet somewhere, but what I am lacking is that I need something that shows me where all the parts are in the engine, suspension, etc. Because when I go to install headers and it tells me to remove the coils... (I have no idea what that is). I know ls1howto.com has the pictures for the header install, but what about some other installs that don't give me really good pictures... I need to be able to look at a diagram and see where this stuff is located...
You guys are telling me there are no websites that diagram this kind of stuff?
Wow I was just looking over that site and damn that is nice. I was eventually going to ask about a writeup for an oil change, because I am only 19 and this is the very first time I will be doing my own work on any car. And as you can imagine, I don't even know how to change the oil!
But I can't wait for the satisfaction of knowing "I" did that when it is all said and done!
