They tell me it is ready!!!
Sad to say but we are having severe weather here in Oklahoma City with Hail... I may not get to pick it up til tomorrow.
The way your luck is going they probably parked it outside during the storm while the employee put his inside to keep from getting dented. lets hope its pristine when you get it back.
OKC was spared for afternoon storms and the roads dried up just fine...
So I get to the shop...
Drivers Door seems good, Interior is good and everything works...
Exterior was not touched except for a coat of Wax...
Still primer all over the car, buffer burns were covered up by wax but still visible,...
shop says that they never touched the rear deck with a buffer... And they claimed that the primer on the front of the car was rock chips. (Yes my front has a few rock chips)
They realized that the car needs to be polished very carefully one last time.
They agreed to try to fix the rear deck, but I do not think that it is fixable.
most of the exterior fells very rough to the touch, freshly painted areas are so soft... will they be able to get it all to feel smooth?
I bought a used FRC that had some minor accident repair which included a new door. Same thing as you; door rattled, window wouldn't seal, squishy sound when you lean on the door panel arm rest. I decided to try and at least do the window tip in and adjustment since the repaired side window didn't look like the passenger side against the weather strip. I pulled off the repaired door panel and found all kinds of poor workmanship and quality issues: 1) Only put 1 of two nuts holding the door handle, 2) ALL nuts and bolts on the door assembly were LOOSE or hand tightened, 3) sound barrier patches for the access holes for the mirror and door handle missing, 4) two female and two male door clips were either broken or missing, and 5) BSMs are loose and coming away from the body.
I repaired the door handle, tightened the bolts and nuts, did the window tip in adjustment, covered the mirror and door handle access holes, replaced the broken door clips and reattached the door panel. 95% better almost same feel as the passenger door/window. Doesn't rattle when you close the door with the window down anymore. Took me two hours to do all that while reading the service manual. Should take a pro about 30 minutes to do a quality check. I need to take off both door panels and compare to see if I missed anything to get it perfect, but my efforts are almost factory. Going to take off the BSMs and reattach using 3M trim tape. It's a shame, paint job was fantastic on my car, but they got lazy. What a stupid way to lose business, you're highly skilled painter gets trumped by a lazy mechanic driving business away. Hope your repairs go well. Quality service is not rocket science, just caring about your work and taking pride in what you do. It's that easy.
OK Got the car back yester day and all lseems well... However the gap between the Driver door and qtr panel still seems too big...
However, I measured and both sides were equal...
