Default Body repair question

picked up my car from the dealer body shop yesterday after it was hit in the drivers door. Only damage looked to be a hole in the door. After trying to repair the hole they decided to order a whole new door skin from GM.
1st skin was peeling apart when it was delivered. second skin looked great. I found some major impoerfections in the paint but the big problem is the door does not sit flush with Qtr panel like on the passanger side. It is something only a corvette owner would see but I will not accept it like that.
The idiot of a repair guy came out and said that he could not change the shape of the door that is the way it is. he tried to adjust the striker but that brought the bottom of the door in too.
Short story is they ordered a new door and will try again next week.

Sounds like the door skin was a bit warped to me if the strikers would not help in the adjustment. Good luck and keep us updated.

I would check the adjustments on the striker again.

When we moved the stricker in the top of the door sucked in like it was supposed to.
But the bottom looked as if it was pushed in.

Not to mention the verticle space where the door meets the Qtr panel is larger on the repaired door. The Passanger door looks perfect.

I have my doubts about the workmanship of this shop as they called me last week to say they cant fix my window. They cant make it drop when you open the door and raise when you shut the door...

I said that I own a C-5 not a C-6...

come to think of it maybe they ordered a skin to a C-6...

I got into a heated discussion about how my car was near perfect when I gave them the keys I want it back with no visible history of work!

That is my next step to find a new shop...

No reason that they shouldn't be able to get the door to sit right. Best of luck getting this fixed.

I noticed today where the body shop burned the paint on the rear deck lid while buffind the paint...

Looks like more painting when the try and repair the door this week. I am glad the torch red blends easily.

I have put a few door skins on in the past but not on a Corvette. One thing is for sure, if it is not a perfect fit when you glue it on it will not be any differenct when painted. New door should solve it now but even that requires fitting. Keep posting...............

Service Dept has top notch tech's but Body shop is crap...

They had my car for 30 days and gave it back to me looking terrible.

I figure this will be the last chance I give this body shop. Then it will be on to a different body shop.

Ive even had some people tell me that I should make them buy my car from me.

Inside Door Pull doesn’t sit properly
Insides door pull bezel looks beat up / broken
Inside door panel sounds squishy when pressure is applied
Door rattles when driving
Door rattles very bad when shut with window down (Doesn’t sound factory)

Extremely Dirty from Shop Dust. (All over, dash, cargo area, seats, crevasses, etc… Needs to be detailed)
Drivers Seat lumbar does not work (Makes sound but nothing inflates)
Drivers Seat now rocks like extreme pressure was put in it
Exterior
Overspray all over car including all windows and Glass top

They tellp that the new door fits perfect... I will judge that when I see it.

Good news is that I should have fresh paint all over!

Sorry to hear about all the issues. With that list of defects, I would be worried about even letting them try and correct them all. Good luck with the repairs and I hope they get it done to your satisfaction.
