Replacing The Pumpkin !!!!!!
Some may remember a thread last week where he "convinced" me to put a scissor lift in my garage. Well, he "convinced" me that it would be a fun DIY to replace the diff on his baby. I guess he thinks the gear ratio change will help him keep up with me but we'll see, cause after this project, 3.90's are in the horizon for my ho.
Here he is, movin on in.

Already sittin down on the job. Joe can fall asleep in almost any position. Musta been in the Navy.

"Hey man, would you stop taking pictures and grab me a 6 point, 15mm deep with a 4" extension?"

What a good friend, doing all the biatch work.

Always a good idea to bag and tag all the loose parts. We used all the wifeys sandwich bags, now the kids have to take there PB & J to school in napkins.

Now this one is a first. Didnt want to mess with the exhaust O2 sensors, so we hung the H pipe using zip ties and bungy cords, that way you could swing it from side to side while removing the tunnel plate. I had nightmares last night about it.

Oh ****, what the hell do I do here?

Removing the half shafts.

Dropping the cradle, you could see more, but this big ugly hairy guy wanted to be in the picture.

OUT COMES JOE"S REAR !

LOOK ED !!!!!! LOOK WHAT I DID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, ya all gotta weigh in on this one. Joe swears he has 12 inches of shaft sticking out, however,I think he is bragging.

Tell me one mechanic you know that will power wash your cradle assembly just to make it look purty before it goes back in.

Anything that didnt fit, didnt look right or just plain ol' pissed us off, got ground to a pulp by Joe.

At one point during this marathon of misery, we got so fed up with the car that it was decided to torch it and claim the insurance.
Here is a photo with the kindling all set in place before we struck the match.

This is what good friends are all about, I held up the H pipe and cats with my head while Joe went to the store for more beer.

All back together, wheels on, beer tastes good. Midnight, quittin time.

Everything went excellent. No remaining parts on the bench, no broken tools, no one got hurt and now Joe is on his way to some serious pulling power.. Car ran excellent, quiet as a church mouse and no leaks. Joe is an excellent mechanic and an even greater friend.

Hey thanks for all the pics and write up Ed,you were a HUGE help in this endeavor!
I was quite impressed with your attention to detail
Say, do you have a pic of the brace that I altered that took almost the whole day when it was said and done?
I would like to share that for other members in case someone else may have the same issues I did..

At first I was confused by the last pic, :o but I recognized your wheels
I was saying you're helpful from the passed times you helped out...
