Default Road Handling

2003..38K miles…When IM driving I notice when on the highway I hit a bump in the road my car will jump…my handling doesn’t seem to be that good..I don’t know much about cars but is there anything I could check for before I decide to take it to a shop..My ABS. Traction control..and active handling likes come and go from time to time..they will stay on for a few days to a couple weeks then they will go out and stay off for abit..then come back on..Not sure if this has anything to do with it. Any suggestions?

Thanks

What kinda shape are your tires in? If you still have the stock GoodYear EMT's, and they are at half life or worse, they are a huge part of the problem.

plus, get your alignment checked, better shocks, and what suspension package do you have?

I had the same problem. My 03 was hopping all over the place.

If you still have runflats...it's the @#%*& stiff walled runflats.

Change them out for GS-D3's and it will be a whole new car. You won't believe the difference.

Much much quieter too!! Wish I had done it when I first bought the car. Would not have spent the money to have the whole car dynamated.

Its the stiff sidewalls on the OEM tires

Try some new ones and you'll find a big difference. I went with Michelin Pilot Sports. Even the runflats are way better in handling.

Dump the runflats and if you lowered the car look into a bump steer kit for the front.

GoodYear GSD3's or Michlien PS2's = The quietest and nicest driving street tires. They are more money than the other cheepo's but are worth it!

But most any tire is better than the stock EMT's.
Bob

PS. Don't let anyone mount your new tires on your wheels unless they use a Hunter Road Force mounting/balance machine.
