Haven't done it with a C5 but with my '68 racer had extra long ramps. Ramps almost as long as the trailer. Some people also drive up their tow vehicles onto low ramps or blocks of wood so that the rear wheels are higher than the fronts in order to straighten out the trailer-ramp connection.

I have a tilted trailer and some 2 x 8's. Just slowly walk in up a stacked set of ramps made from 2 x 8's.

I have a dovetail on my trailer but the ramps are 5 foot long and I place 2x10's on the ramp but it takes two people to put their foot on the wood so that it doesn't move as I drive the car onto the ramp.

I also would like to be able to get the car onto the trailer by myself. Currently it takes minumum two if not three people. I have found that the would slips and if you get caught in the rain the tires tend to slip going up the ramp.

I would like to extend the ramps somehow so they stay in place as I drive up ramp .

I screw the boards together so that there is a little over-lap so that the top piece sits on the ramp and the bottom piece hits againt the ramp so that they don't slide up.

Now I like that idea! Do you have any pictures?

I can make that from my 2x10's.

I don't have any pictures, but it is a relatively simple idea, so you should have no problem doing it. Also helps to take along a couple of bungy cords to wrap around them to keep help keep them in place.

Default Solution???

Everyone, thanks for all the input. I currently use a 2x4 to get my car on the trailer ramps but with recent suspension work the car needs to get higher to get onto the ramps. After reviewing everyone’s input I was in Sam’s Club yesterday and saw these ramps that I hope will fix the problem. If this get’s the car up high enough the next issue will be to try to tie them into the trailers ramps so I will have a smooth transition unto the trailer. By the way these ramps are $55 + tax at Sam’s club so it is probably the same cost as making wood ramps and easier to carry around/store.A picture is worth a thousand words so I have included pictures of what I bought and the two ways I can possibly use these ramps to help get onto a trailer.

1st way to try to use ramps

Box

Ramp laid flat out

Flat ramp under car

2nd way to try to use ramps

Ramp double up partially under car

Ramp double up under car – Notice air dam

Ramp double up all the way under car – Air dam bends back

Side view of ramps

The goal is to get the car onto the trailer ramps and trailer without damaging the 1. Paint 2. Air dam

Next I will pull the trailer out and experiment with moving the car onto the trailer. Unfortunately this will have to wait a week or so because as nice as it is today (75 degrees) Tuesday, the temperature will drop to around 35 tomorrow and snow Wednesday night into Thursday and it is suppose to stay cold through the weekend.
Perils of living up north.

Appreciate all your thoughts and inputs on how to help make this work.

Please update link. It currently does not work.

Custom Ramps? How much? Traveling where do you store them? The fold-up ramps seem easy to store on the trailer?

Looking for all ideas.

Thanks for the heads up, here's the updated one

http://www.raceramps.com/store/shopc...sp?type=custom

These are NOT steel and are very light, the surface will not dent, ding or scratch.

You can just lay them down in front of the tires and just put a strap on them our slided them under the car.

The custom ramps are priced by the size, so we would need to know what you would need for you application.
This is our standerd trailer ramp,

See what you think.

Here is a $15.00 - $20.00 fix that works very well. I took this from a forum member who answered the same question I posted a few months ago. His idea is wonderful. Screw, glue, 2X12 and an hour of your time. Heck Home depot and Lowes will even cut the wood for you.

This gets my lowered coupe onto my 5" ramps and it does not touch anything. Best part is DIRT CHEAP

I like your home made ramps, small and look light. When the weather gets warmer I will try the Sam's Club ramps with wood in front to see how the do and look into making all wood ramps. The 2x12's get expensive and if the fold up ramps work I may only need to put a piece of wood in front.

The race ramps are really nice but expensive.
