Default Fed up with suspension Lowered pics

Guys i made the big mistake of lowereing the C5 over a year ago lowered front bolt & cut bushing and longer rear bolts...

I don't drive the car much but when i do its a pain to get anywhere without the choppy ride... I have to select and choose roads that are smooth and sometimes its just not fun...

I had considered buying the bilstein HD shocks but from what i have read through this forum it only makes the ride firmer but the bumpy feeling is still there...

My question is that is there any way to get the soft smoother feeling back without having to raise the car or am i doomed?

PS: i dont race the car just driving around town so no need for any extreme suspension... all that is left for the motorcycle

and for the motorcycle enthusiasts

Don't give up just yet. You're on the right track. I lowered my '02 Z51 Vert with C6 adjusters in the front and 7" bolts in the rear and experienced the ride you are complaining about. Installed Bilstein HDs had the car aligned (read this alignment gains ride/handling quality) and 'am very happy with the outcome. I think it's just like anything else we do. There is a "job" and then there is a "complete job." Your car looks great in the pic. My suggestion is don't compromise the mod just finish it. You are $300 and an hour away from loving your car all over again. Ask me how I know.

When i called bilstein and few of the shops that cater to C5's they all suggested HD over sport for comfort... are you saying the Sport will be a more softer ride???

by the way the sc vette looks good

thanks for the reply but can you honestly say that the shocks made that much of a difference? ive read post after post where there was a difference in ride but the bumply feeling was still there unlike oem height... i just rather raise the car or not drive it the with the way it rides...

im embarassed to take my girl anywhere since her bmw has such a nice and smooth ride i feel like im torturing her

The sports are firmer than the HDs and for what you want out of your car I would get the HDs

I'm getting ready to lower my 00 with C6 Z06 shocks. Will these type of shocks be a problem? BTW, I already have Z06 sways. Thanks!

You might want to look into the Koni FSD's. I've been reading some good things about them. "smooth as glass and handles like its on rails" Do a search.

...... I know this from experience, and here it is - I had the worse ride of ANY car. I was embarressed to take any girl in my car too. My main problem was, and still is... my tires are very worn... the car had a choppy ride, and would slide all over the place, even when going straight I hit the gas. Anyhow, I got the Bilstein Sports & Hotchkis sway bars................. Ride is awesome since then. Those old tires hold up pretty good.

Don't listen to the Hype... I was told the Hotchkis sway bars are very stiff (more stiffer than the Z06), and heard the same about Sports shocks. I just bit the bullet and got both of them... the best handling mod ever... The ride is much more smoother than stock ride, and soft. Then again, maybe I got lucky with my set up...

I had Sports and they were to harsh for my wife..so i too called Bilstein and was recommended HDs and said they were 22% less firm...I got them on and they are a nice ride that is still firm but not as harsh..

I read here that the Koni FSD are the bomb!! But the price is $699.00 for the set of 4. Some vendor here had them at $629.00.
Run a search here and checkout the write up..my $.02

99FewteRC5- I will look into it thanks

Rick- thanks still not done yet with the mods

SleeperC5 - If anything i will get the HD over sport b/c that seems to be what bilstein say and others have agreed on.

Vette_Fan - Tires are practically new so i know its not the tire or allignment for sure, its these oem shocks that just cant hang but im afraid even with the shocks the bumpy feeling will be there just reduced...

As for the sway bar most of you agree that changing it will help the overall suspension but I think it would be more of a suspension upgrade for performance driving. I don't see how it would reduce the Oscillation feeling going up and down vs lateral which the sway bar helps out in when taking corners. But since so many of you recomended it and i appreciate the advice I will change it if the HD or Koni dont help... Thanks
