Has anyone made or tried to make their own Z06 screens? I did a search and did not find anything on this subject. After looking at many different types people sell, it just seems it wouldnt be too hard to just buy a sheet of the screen you like and cut it to fit. Anyone have any ideas or know what the dimensions would be for brake ducts, fog light area, side vents, and rear end?
i tried making them for the side vents and front brake vents plus the back.......for some reason it just didnt look right......i went ahead and ordered the kit from vette shop....its not to expensive........i bought the zo6 screens that go in the foglight area.....wouldnt want to cheap out there

I was thinking about makeing some. frount brake ones would be easy if you had the right screen.
Back pretty easy
Fog would be hard
Side not to easy
Back brake scoops to hard
I tried making the fog screens. It was a PITA and just didn't look right. The OEM screens was money well spent. The other screens should be reasonably easy to do You can get the screen material online and they really are just pieces of mesh bent to shape.
I have made foglight screens, 18GA stainless steel mesh. They look good and will post pictures tomorrow of them on the car. I have been experimenting with different styles of mesh and gauges and may start a sideline.

Side Vents, Brake Vents, and Rear Vents are all doable but they don't cost enough to make it worth doing yourself. The Z06 vents require a molding around them to fit and would probably be way to hard to get right.

I did:
They looked ok, I used the home depot gutter guards and screen spline method and I even painted them with chrome paint. After awhile, they just didn't do it for me so I took them off. It was fun and I still have them sitting in my garage...
Here is another shot:
I made my own front brake duct and fog light screens, similar to the 99magredcoupe above. I used the gutter screen material, which has a hex grid pattern.
I cut templates from cardboard and trimmed and tweeked them until they were the right size and shape. Then transposed the pattern to the screen and cut it out. I left the brake duct screens a little larger than the hole and inserted them from under the car after pulling the covers. The plastic duct holds them in place.
The fog light screens are trickier. I used black weatherstipping to run the perimeter of the fog light screen. It's just the regular small, about 1/4 inch, semi-circular hollow w/s. I carefully cut the peak of the curved part and put the edge of the screen into the slot. In the sharper radius corners I had to trim off little triangles to get the w/s "flat". From a few feet back you can't tell they're cut. Fit them in place and peel off the adhesive strip paper and they stay in place. They sit further back into the fog light surrounds than the Z06 screen housings, which are right up to the front edge. And the fog lights still shine through, but I never use them anyway.
Haven't done the side vent screens yet.
Pobably cost about $20 total, and I have enough material to do several more sets if these fall out or I want to try to make the weatherstripping more even.

Did you buy the Z06 screens from Vette Shop also? If so, can you post some pics of the install?
I looked at those and the web site only had a picture of the uninstalled item and I could not tell what it would look like installed. TIA
i cant find any pix right now......but it looks just like the front of a z06 therer the same thing
Ok, thanks. That is what I figured since they were called "Z06 Screens" but I just couldn't get the picture on the web site to match what I thought it was supposed to look like installed -- guess my brain just couldn't comprehend.

A fellow Canadian member (Zilla) made some up using perforated sheet metal...I liked them so much, I did mine the same way. Also made matching side vent screens. The trick is to disengage the outer rim on the front of a Z06 screen so you can take the old screen out, match up a new one (lots of belt sanding), then reattach the outer rim, fill in any holes and re-shoot matt black

yes, I first bought some and the adhesive didn't adhere well so I lost 1
I made a replacement out of similar material, easy to make
I then bought some gutter guard material made out of aluminum at the hardware and made a much nicer looking set, I painted these gold as I have a navy car with gold badges, looks great
