but why ? (serious)

just go out to the dragstrip and start running the car. This pre-talk doesn't mean anything; all your answers are awaiting at the track.

I did the 1/4 mile in 13.5 @ 106mph. I started in 3rd, then shifted to D.
I also did the 1/4 mile just in drive,, did the 1/4 mile in 13.6 @ 105mph.
Not much of a difference for me. I don't do it for any $$$ just for fun.

Wth the stock RPM shift point of an A4 being 5900 RPM's for the 3-4 shift-you would have to be going 145 MPH in order for it to shift into 4th
with a 2.73 or a 3.15---with a 3.42 --136 MPH---not gonna happen with your basic modded C5---it will never shift into 4th under power--As far as leaving it in 3rd or D to leave on, my opinion is that the trans feels freer when it's in D--try doing a burnout in 3rd and then in D--I always roast them much easier when it's in drive--What does that mean ??? don't know !!

My old 60' times were the same but I got one 2.0 last time, and the mph ranged from 104-106 compared to last time when they were all 104mph. Could it be the new tires? I changed them from runflats to the brand new BFG's. I just have to know why I ran worst, I was expecting 13.0 to 13.1, any input is appreciated.

The DA yesterday was started out at 2700 and dropped to 2500 last time I checked. Are you sure your 60ft times where the same? Traction was bad yesterday

I couldn't even hook in my 4wd I was driving yesterday

I did a 12.7 @109 down e-town lat week in my A4. My 2nd time at the track with the vette. I was on the stock GY run flats at 30 psi cold and weighed my self in the car at 35XX lb. My only mods are callaway honker, Dynatech Supermaxx headers with high flow cats and corsa cat back. I don't have a tune yet. I think i could have done a 12.6, but i sand bagged my last few runs during the bracket races.
60' was 1.9

Wait what's DA? I got good traction only when I did a burnout and yes my 60' times were the same. Nice video too.

Density Altitude-How close to sea level the track is. Lower to sea level the better. So even though Fontana sits at approx. 1100ft the air yesterday was like running at a track at 2500-2700ft.

This link explains it better then I can

http://www.csgnetwork.com/densaltcalc.html

Thanks I was pretty happy to get my truck in the 12's

I think I found the answer I was looking for! I have the Vararam intake and I heard that it doesn't make a difference until you get up to about 30mph. So maybe at the launch, my 60' were the same because there wasn't too much air going into the engine (which would have been the same as running with my older twin flow intake ) and after hitting 30mph where the Vararam is supposed to shine, it couldn't cuz the air was less dense. Does that make sense or is it just me? Well I'm sticking to that anyway.

Oh and thanks for rubbing it in that your TRUCK hit 12's

12.70 with stk tires and an A4 and only headers-catback and cold air intake-hi-flo cats without a tune ???--probably around 315 RWHP ----WOW never heard or an A4 ever going that fast with those mods and runflats.

It was a good day to race as well, temps in the upper 40s to low 50s with low humidity. I think those times say a lot about the Callaway honker, I just don't have a before time when I had the vararam. I only ran once before when I just had the corsa catback and every thing else stock. I ran like a 13.9 on a very hot and humid day in August. I was pleased as well with the new and improved times. I would say the mods gave me just under 1 sec, and the weather a few tenths. Also i was hooking up better by doing a small burn out this time.
I have the 3.15 axle ratio option, so that helps a bit over the base rear.
I will scan my time slips tonight.

Not trying to hijack, but does the same advice go for an A4 that's supercharged? I dyno'd two week ago with 447hp and 400 torque. I know I need a tune so once that's done it should bump it up some. The guy I bought it from said his wife ran a 12.1

Hard to read, but the first slip my time is on the right, I broke out, I tried to sand bag it at the end that is why the trap speed is only 99 mph, I think I might I have gone 12.6XX if i did not let off the gas. The other slip is a 12.76 at 109 mph. My friend who was there did a 12.2XX, a .5 sec better then I did that day, but he has a head and cam package with a tune, and road racing tires. Dyno just over 400 rwhp. He is also a little guy with Ti exhaust so he weighed about 300 lb less then me.
