Key in reminder chime disable?
I've searched the forum, but haven't found a solution to disable the annoying "key in" chime....
I like to sit inside my car, with the drivers door open, and listen to the radio while messing with my radar detector, GTech or whatever....but the darn reminder chime won't shut up!....
Any solutions for turning it off?....

I've asked before and no one came up with a solution
I'm with you. That is the most annoying thing in the world when you're working on the car.

Sorry, cant' help with a wiring fix BUT,,,
Get a Window Valet and use it for extended RAP. Take out the key, hit the unlock three times and the RAP turns on. Listen till your heart's content.

Never thought of that. Does it work when the doors open?

Funny, I don’t recall mine dinging with just the accessories switch on. In the ignition on position, it rings for a few seconds. Try the reset button?

You're a lucky one if your chime is silent in the accy position with the drivers door open....
I had thought about turning the ign to the "on" position, but figured it wouldn't be good for the battery or fuel pump?....

Thanks again for all the great info!....
The WV seems like a great product!....Glad I learned about it!...
Heck, I wish someone would figure out how to program (disable) the chime on the Window Valet....that alone would be worth 50 bucks to me!....

Think positive
When you've finished the job and the bonging noise stops, what a big relief.

Fix
ON MY 04 Silverado 2500 HD LT I found a fix.
I use a key or small screwdriver (or anything) to just click the door latch like the door was closed (on the door - not the door jam) and the car / truck thinks the door is closed, BUT remember to pull the door handle before closing the door to reset the catch. Once in a while pulling the handle will only reset the latch about 50 % so check it and make sure it's fully rotated before closing the door.
Works for me ALL the time.

Maybe something simple? Find the source of the sound - apply appropriate duct tape?

Hey!...those are both pretty good ideas!....
I've actually "modified" the old style "pin switch" in the door jam before on other vehicles I've owned....but didn't know where the switch was for the vette....So, it's in the door....thanks for the tip!....
I'll try the latch trick tonight!.....thanks!

VELLY, VELLY IMPORTANT. Forget and close the door a couple of times without doing this and you'll create some other problems.
