Default Bilstein HD or Sport

What are the BEST all around Bilstein Shocks for an '04 Vert that is NOT raced but would love better handling on the street. I don't want a harsh ride, and I do plan on adding Z06 Sway Bars. I don't like the present stock setup. Should I go with the Bilstein HD or Sport. Should I forget the Bilsteins all together and go for the '04 Z06 shocks? The car certainly DOES NOT handle the way a true world class port car should. Thanks to ALL!

I switched from the base suspension on my coupe to Bilstien Sports shocks, Hotckis sways and Z51 springs. The ride is now firm, not harsh, and offers what I would call much better body control compared to the base setup. Without a doubt I would do this mod again.

What you want is KONI FSD's! They will ride like a Cadillac and I aint kidding check out my post a week or so ago
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1661822

This was the best ridding shock I have ever been associated with! It is imperitive you ponder over buying a set of these.

If you are like me and want your "WIFE" to ride with you and enjoy a beautiful drive then it is worth the small investment of the KONI FSD's.

LAPD does have a special on them and they are a supporting vendor here on the forum or go to www.thelapd.com or call and talk to either two of the Shawns tell 'em Matt from Palmdale sent you! YUP!

Thanks,Matt

I am not a fan of Bilsteins. I had mine on for 6 months and gave them away. However, since a lot of Corvette owners like them, I guess they provide good handling for most. They are certainly better than Z51 shocks; I just needed something with more flexibility.

However, when it comes to stabilizer bars, do not waste your $$$ on Z06 bars, they are too close to Z51's...there are better options:

Base Suspension: 23 mm-front / 19.1 mm-rear
Z51 (97-99): 25.4 mm-front / 21.7 mm-rear
Z51 (00-04): 28.6 mm-front / 23.6 mm-rear
Z06: 30.0 mm-front / 23.6 mm-rear
Hotchkis: 31.75 mm-front / 25.4 mm-rear
Addco: 32 mm-front / 25.4 mm-rear
Addco: 35 mm-front / 25.4 mm-rear
Pfadt (Adjustables): 32 mm-front / 26 mm-rear http://www.pfadtracing.com/
Pfadt (Adjustables): 35 mm-front / 29 mm-rear (Pfatty)
T1 (GM Racing): 38.4 mm-front / 27.5 mm-rear

Just remember, it is the right combination of shocks & bars that provide the optimum in both handling & comfort. For me, adjustable shocks with T1 bars is fantastic.

My $.02 worth. My set up is ZO6 springs, Hotchkiss sways, and just added Bilstien Sports. I love the ride and the handling. I may go to the T1 Sways eventually, but sticking with the rest for the time being....Oh wait...maybe coil overs.....Dang it, I guess there is no perfect set up!

I have Z06 sways and Bilstein SPORTS on my 99 Coupe. It's PERFECT. It is not harsh at all, not even for the wife.
