I have been trying to find the right vette for some time now, without much luck. Is a low mi, one owner, garage kept, in a color combo that I like to much to ask for? I'm starting to think it might be. I have found a few that would buy, but they all seem to be 2000 mi away. There are some local vette dealers, but they are all auction cars. I just don't like the idea of not knowing anything about how owned the car, how it was taken care of ect. Am I being to **** about this
When you're buying a used car you can't order it like it was new. You have to have certain guildlines as to what the car must have for you too buy it. If you get the basic things you're looking for the rest becomes a compromise.
Patience Grasshopper. You will find what you're looking for.
If the vehicle is very far away, you could ask another forum member to take a look at it for you. I know a guy here that flew down to Florida from VA to look at the car and then drove it back. A great way to get to know your new ride.
The answer to your question is that you're not too ****. You're about to drop some serious scratch on a used car; you should know everything you possibly can about it.

Get what you want, you are spending a lot of money dont settle on a car if its not what you want. Good Luck!
I'd say be as picky as you want and get what you want.
The question is though, are you being realistic as far as the price goes if you find what you want?
Keep looking, your car is out there.
If you are patient you will find what you are looking for. It took me almost a year. I looked a couple of times a day at autotrader.com and cars.com so I could limit only seeing cars within 500 miles from my home. I also looked periodically at the various vette forums and sites but had the same issue as you. The cars I liked were thousands of miles away. I'm in Michigan.
I found and bought a mint '02 Coupe, loaded, Electron Blue (which is what I wanted) from the original owner with 9,500 miles on it. The owner claims that the car never saw rain and the condition shows it. His add was only posted for about 5 minutes before I called him.
I missed a loaded '99 Coupe with 8,500 miles by 5 minutes. The price was $20,000. The add was only posted on cars.com for about 15 minutes before I called and I immediately went to look at it. The garage was open and I started to look at the car and was getting pretty exited when the owner walked out of the house with the new owner. I was pretty bummed.
If you see one you like you have to move really quick or it will be gone. I agree with the previous post that if you can't look at it have someone else look at it because one persons mint is another persons junk.

There are a lot of people on the forum that are garage queens have you tried the C5 for sale section. Also who cares if the car is 2000 miles away, forum members will go look at the car for you. All you have to do is ask.
I am also very picky when it comes to buying a Vette. Since you are located in Pa.,there is a dealer near Philadelphia that has outstanding low mileage Vettes. His prices are not low however, the cars are normally top of the line. Checkout his web page.
DO NOT compromise is a purchase of this type, you will definatly regret it! Your patience will be rewarded if you hold out for the right car. Keep searching, It took me 3 months of daily searching to find the right one.

NO WAY ARE YOU BEING TOO PICKY. Half the fun is in the hunt. I spent everyday for 3-4 months looking for an exact color, list of options and non repainted vehicle. Found the car 200 miles from home. I paid about 5-8% more than I should have but I'll get it back on the resale. As mentioned b/4, don't be selective and cheap too.
I was the same way. Looked for almost 2 years. Found a 2001 at a dealer in Fairfax VA. 3000 miles on the clock, right color and loaded. Was about 350 miles from me in north central PA, Keep looking.

Every response posted above has good advise and I agree. This is the TIME to be picky, not AFTER it's too late. But I know, it's hard to be patient when the "Bug" has got hold of you. As mentioned above, take the time to enjoy the hunt as the sellers need you more than you need them (Vettes are always a buyer's market not a seller's) and are under more stress than you, believe it or not. There is no need to compromise on anything short of price. Good luck in your search.
