Take out the old oil. Put rear slightly elevated to drain the rest out(flat oil pan). Put new filter and new oil in. Usually Mobile 1 or similar 5w30.

Start it. Check level. You will need between 6.5 and 7 qts.

Reset oil life and drive it!!

Lifting without pucks. :

Other links to recommended lifting & jacking locations. A hydraulic jack should NOT be placed directly under the CENTER of the front cross-member to lift the vehicle:

with the key on,( but engine not running) push the gas pedal 3 x to the floor releasing completely in between each push...

I also prefer to prefer my oil filter with fresh oil and put a bit of fresh oil on the gasket.

also remember to properly tighten the oil filter.... hand tight about 1/2 turn after contact of the gasket....

Most most most important rule: Don't let the clowns at Jiffy Lube touch it. A friend of mine (no, really, the guy down the block with a '00 coupe) had the wrong oil put in by those guys. He did get a new engine out of it, though...the car is that senstive to non-synthetic oil AND Chevrolet can determine that it's been used, even after several oil changes. That was at 38K.

I have an 02 Z06, and I reset mine with the digital display. I think i go to "oil life remaining" with the key on, and simply hold reset in for about 5 seconds.

All the links above say to have the rear slightly higher to drain all the oil out. Yet, the GM/helm shop manual says that it is IMPORTANT to have the oil pan level for the procedure.

Verbatim:

Important: Be sure the vehicle is level during this entire procedure.
1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle In General Information.

Important: In order to completely drain the oil from the oil pan internal baffling, the bottom of the oil pan must be level during the drain procedure.

Allow a MINIMUM of 7 MINUTES for the engine oil to fully drain, once the engine oil drain plug and the engine oil filter are removed.

2. Remove the engine oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain
3. Remove the engine oil filter by turning the oil filter counterclockwise and allow any remaining oil to drain.

So, why are we raising the rear a little higher?

OK. Try it your way. Then lift the rear a hair and see how much more oil comes out.
That's why.
