Sometimes it is just hard to explain why people do certain things. At least he didn't follow you after you took the exit.

Maybe he thought you were running a radar detector and would protect him.
I once had a Suburban do this to us for over 70 miles - I slowed, he slowed, I sped up, he sped up. I even stopped on a two lane up-hill passing lane, he also stopped just off my left rear corner. That really freaked me out! So I pulled away, then stopped at the first available parking lot (in central Oregon towns are 70 or more miles apart) and made sure he saw what was in my hand when he came up on us. He kept going and we didn't see him again. And he didn't give us a thumbs up!!

seems like a lot of use vette owners are having problems with other drivers today 
I was driving down the road today just minding my own business, when this dodge charger hemi fish tails out of a gas station trying to get next to me to race. I'm young, and I drive a vette, but I still don't street race. He gave his car a bit of gas trying to get my attention, but he should know that he's dealing with a vette. He'd get smashed!

Not sure how fast you were going, but there are plenty of people that like to get behind you and "trail" you if you're going a tad faster than the speed limit. You're like their shield for a radar gun..they get to cruise as fast as you but won't be the one getting tagged.

Wait till the driver on a car 3 lanes over paces you neck to neck and is staring at your car with a slacked jaw ..... in the same time, his car drifts toward you and when you realize what's happening you try to mouth the word "GET AWAY, GET AWAY" and gesturing him to pay attention.
