Guys,
I just got the Corvette Flip out Key/FOB from Ecklers and wondering if it is a simple cut to duplicate key that you can go anywhere that makes keys or does the box type configuration or type of key present any issues?

I've heard you're better off going to a locksmith for the cut. It should be common but I guess some hardwares stores have a different cutting machine that has difficulty.
I went to the local chevy dealer and they almost ruined the entire thing. Their machine could only cut one side of the key and they could not figure out how to turn the key over to cut the other side.
I took the key to an actual locksmith, not the idiots at a home depot but a real locksmith, not only did they cut the other side correctly, they fixed the damage that the Chevy morons caused to the other side of the key.
I vote for a real locksmith, it is amazing what those guys can do and they only charged me $1.00 for the cut.
what my local lock smith came up was they found a key similar to the original but without the resistor and matched up the lengths because they weren't exactly the same. So he matched them up and was able to cut it for me. This might be an option for you if you can't find one.

The problem with that is, this is not a regular key, it is contained within a key fob attached to a flip mechanism. You cannot just buy a similar key and attach it.
Try the local hardware store. Some machines work better than others. When I had mine done the brush wheel on the other side of the cutter hit the square part. The person cutting it had seen this was going to happen and put tape over it to protect it.
I tried several places including a Chevy dealer, a Mercedes dealer, and two locksmiths. None of them had the equipment to cut it. Finally I went to Home Depot (contrary to the previous posts against it) and they cut it perfectly.
I took mine to a local Lowes home supply store and it took them about 30 seconds to cut it. Worked perfect AND they did it for free. Wouldn't accept any money.
