In high wear areas the vinyl is much better than leather no matter the quality of the leather. Just read an article about a guy who picked up a 35 year old Mercedes that had their Vinyl leatherette upholstery. Although the car was in rough shape the upholstery was still in good condition. Where leather has an advantage is its ability to absorb moisture.
