Just to throw in my $.02, I had the same problem this winter. I had a huge mouse hotel in the fan, and up into the ducting, and reached as far as I could, but I still can't get the smell out. I've been told that in order to get all the ducting out, you need to go from under the hood and remove the intake manifold.....maybe someone knows better then I do. It just sucks, I have no time to do something like that anymore....
I, also do the Bounce thing. I posted a thread last week about the original Blue Dawn dish soap. Put some in a spray bottle, mix with water, and spray around the base of the exterior walls. I know it works with ants, earwigs, etc....might work with mice, squirrels, chips and such. Just my .02 worth. Good luck.
Maybe the critters get in thru the inside air system. I always switch the air intake from outside air to closed inside air when I pull 'er in after a run. I'm told there's a door that closes when you do that ..?

My god, I think we have a winner! I can't believe I didn't think of that! I think you're right, when the system is set to "recirculate" the inside air the outside air intake path is blocked off completely... I will have to pull the fan motor again and have a looksy in there.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR STATING WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOOOO OBVIOUS!

Anytime the car isn't being driven regulary, I put one open bag in the engine compartment and another in the driver's side floorboard. The bag on the floorboard serves as a reminder to remove the bag in the engine compartment before driving.
I've had ZERO mice problems since and the car always smells good.
I like this soap deal and will add it to my practice of the two (one in the front and one in the back of the garage) electric pest repellants plugged into wall outlets in the garage.
the hood was covered in mouse pee and droppings. I pulled back the cover farther to find that the little bastards had been running all over the car, pissing as they went, droppings everywhere, right under the cover.
I opened the driver's door, the smell was overpowering... the interior was damp and reeked of mouse crap, ****, dead mice, etc... !
Your a great candidate for a 4 post lift Oh, and like the cat idea
