Default Trailering a C5

I may have to trailer my C5 from Wisconsin to Florida this summer and I need to know how to strap the car down for the trip (on a U Haul most likely). I have done a search and found nothing. I have trailered race cars a lot in the past (solid rear axle) I just want to know where to attach the ratch straps, the best method for a long trip. I dont like the kind that go over the front tires as they can slip off in transit. Also I use a security chain from the trailer frame to the car frame.

Go to northerntool and get a set of 4 t-hooks. These will attach under your car in the frame notches that people put the jacking pads in (they are really designed by GM for shipping).

Attach the straps to the t-hooks and then you should crossed your front and your back straps to add better support.

PM me if you have any questions or if you want a pic I will go out and take some so you can see. We tow alot.

Fleabay has a good deal on T hooks also. They work fantastic. I didn't have time to wait on a set when we brought ours back from MI last month so we went around the trailing arms and steering arms with axle straps and it traveled fine. Some suggested threading the strap portion through the wheels and then putting the strap back into the ratchet portion and said it works fine. I was in a hurry and a little afraid of tweaking a wheel so I didn't try it that way. Make sure you have enough tongue weight (the Vette far enough forward on the trailer) so that it won't fish tail and tighten the straps evenly around the car before you snug it down tight so you won't put undue pressure on the tranny (really best to block the wheels, tighten the straps and then put the car in gear or park and set the e brake and then tighten them down). (Not responsible for any damages or hiccups from usage of this information, use your good judgement) Good luck
