Holy cow, mine just locked up as well.... Can I remove the solenoid myself and just put a plate on it to stop it from locking the wheel?? Are there any instruction out there for that.. I called GM and they said they have the plate but the cost is $600 to do the job.
Speaking of "Holy Cow", this thread was over 5 years old before being found and revived.
Thanks Suthunman, much appreciated... Just finished re-placing the Oil Sending unit, it went out this weekend, pegged at 80lbs, just installed the new one, then started up the C5 and the pressure was correct around 40lbs, but the Colum Locked.. Last week the water pump went, replaced it, today the sending unit and now the Colum lock issue....
Just ordered the LMC5 and the unlocker, it's $6 bucks.. I hope this works.. GM want's way to much... Thanks... PS does it have good instructions? I'm good working on cars, like I said, I've replaced the water pump, oil sending unit, cold air kit, Drilled rotors & pads.. I think I can do this... Thanks so much Suthunman, much appreciated..

It has very detailed instructions. Will probably take longer to read them than it will to install it. If you have any problem with anything, call Richard at compliance parts. He will help you get back on the road.
Attempted the LMC5 & LMC5 un-locker, but for some reason the motor solenoid won't un-lock. Richard from Compliance was on the phone with me, great guy.. So I have a friend at GM who works on the Column Lock vettes at GM, he is coming over Mon. to address this, let's see if he can free up that solenoid.. So I'm charging up the batterey for Mon. she just won't release, I've done everything. Fuse #23, 22,25 and 13 are all still good (all are related to BCM at the fuse panel).
Good news, is my leather headrest came in today, fitted it and now my head can rest on the seat back for those long cruizes...
Attempted the LMC5 and LMC5 Un-lock kit, nothing worked, stilled locked up. I have a friend at GM who does this for a living, he is coming over this Mon. to do his magic. I must say Richard at "Compliance Parts" was great in helping me during my install, he was on line and we did several tricks to unlock, with no luck. He is thinking the actural solenoid went bad.. I"ll update with the outcome...
