If you place your order on Monday for the CLB, you should have Wed or Thurs....then NEVER have to worry about it again.

You might try pulling fuse #23 and see it will re-set enough to get it unlocked.

Good luck

Try turning the key on and shake the steering wheel left and right really hard. It might shake the lock enough to release. If that doesn't work, check the passenger side floor fuse panel for blown fuses in position #23 or #25.

Good luck.

Don't know that you can undo the recall by removing a relay, but what do I know? I had a CLB unit in my 97 for years and it would occasionally give me the "pull key and wait 10 seconds" message, but otherwise it worked ok after pulling the key and re-inserting.
When they came out with the recall, I got it done and they removed the lock plate from the steering wheel and put some kind of wiring harness in there to fool the computer into thinking it had locked or unlocked the wheel. It worked ok also but I still got the "pull key and wait" message sometimes. I was hoping that it wouldn't do that after the General did the recall.

Same thing happened to my 00. Was fine until 1 day it left me stranded.

I drove it a few more days and it left me stranded again.

It did reset but only after some undetermined amount of time.

Buy the CLB, and put this behind you. I bought my from Corvette of Houston and with instructions from the web, I got mine installed in about 1 hr tops.

Well worth the money

Chevy should be embarrassed about this situation. Its pathetic on their flagship car to have this problem.

The relay that is installed with the GM recall is not in the BCM. It is in a wiring harness (Harness K)that gets connected between the BCM and the column lock actuator, but the connection is below the steering column, not in the footwell.
If you have a working actuator, you can remove the trim below the steering column, disconnect the relay harness, and reconnect the actuator to the main wiring harness.
There were some early models that GM installed a wiring jumper in the BCM. Is that what you may be thinking about?

I thought that once the GM recall has been done you can not use the CLB kit. Can you do the double "repair', or will it mess things up?

If you can do it reprogram the computer to the pre 2004 recall. That recall would cause the fuel shutoff problem. They also installed a relay in the footwell are that has to be removed. This is not as simple as just installing the CLB. Call whoever your buying the CLB from and tell them your recall history they should be able to advise you further.

I just ordered my CLB and CAGS bypass from Corvettes of Houston, I've got 35K on my '04, I'm starting to get nervous. Especially if I'm taking a road trip, the thought of getting "hosed on the road" scares the bejesus outta me!

Default Bummer! I learned my lesson.

Sorry to hear about your CLB problem, but it's happened sooooo many times, everyone should just face it and install the bypass. I also waited until I was stranded, and that wasn't too smart. Corvettes of Houston - I had mine in about two days, and have never had a problem since. Good luck in getting this sorted out.

I got mine from Corvettes of Houston, was worth every penny.
Even though I had no issues, dreaded the day that little actuator
did not move out when the key was inserted.
Better safe then sorry and it will only cost you $50

Holy cow, mine just locked up as well.... Can I remove the solenoid myself and just put a plate on it to stop it from locking the wheel?? Are there any instruction out there for that.. I called GM and they said they have the plate but the cost is $600 to do the job.

Order an LMC5 from complianceparts.com. It's 37 bucks plus shipping and they have great customer service. You probably need to order their unlocker as well. I don't remember the price but it's only a few bucks. Do a search for LMC5 and see what others have said.

Thanks Suthunman, much appreciated... Just finished re-placing the Oil Sending unit, it went out this weekend, pegged at 80lbs, just installed the new one, then started up the C5 and the pressure was correct around 40lbs, but the Colum Locked.. Last week the water pump went, replaced it, today the sending unit and now the Colum lock issue....

Just ordered the LMC5 and the unlocker, it's $6 bucks.. I hope this works.. GM want's way to much... Thanks... PS does it have good instructions? I'm good working on cars, like I said, I've replaced the water pump, oil sending unit, cold air kit, Drilled rotors & pads.. I think I can do this... Thanks so much Suthunman, much appreciated..

Jesse

The CLB is the only way to go. Read about it in the Tech Forum. Believe me, it can cost way more than $50 if you get stuck or stranded. The first thing I did after getting my second Corvette is install one. I have never had any problems with it and I know I won't. Good luck.
