Hard vibrating coming from underneath car??
Hi all,
I'm checking around to see if anyone knows about this. I have a 1997 that has a hard vibrating that sounds like it is coming out towards the back, bottom end of the engine. I took the Vette into the Chevy dealer awhile ago for a new gas filter and asked about this. I recall the mechanic telling me it was a standard issue with the 97 Vette and that unless the noise was bothering me, it didn't need repair. At that time he told me what is was, but I can't recall now. Does anyone know what this is? The noise now bothers me too much and I'm thinking about getting it fixed. Thanks!

Sorry about that. It's an automatic. The noise can be heard whenever the car is running and typically doesn't change when the car is shifting, but it is loudest when the car is idling.
If I had to describe the noise, it sounds like a tin plate vibrating against an oil pan. I know nothing is loose because I'll looked thoroughly under the car when it was running and again, the Chevy mechanic said it was a common problem for a 97 but it didn't require work.
