Default TPS Battery

My C5 is a 97 that makes the batteries for the TPS over 10 years old
now and they still ticking. How long are these batteries suppose to
last?

4 or 5 years is the life of most of them. I have a 97 to and have had to replace only one of them.

I don't exactly know the life expectancy of TPS batteries. Much depends on not so much as the age of the sensor batteries, but how much they are called upon for a reading. If you don't drive the car very much, I can see the batteries still having juice. If your car has lots of miles over the years...........you got a great set of batteries.

It's only got about 25K miles on it. That must be why.
Still have original tires. I guess it would be good idea to replace
batteries when I replace tires. The tires will need replaceing in
the near future for it gets driven more now. It use to be the garage
queen but now it's the daily driver ever since I bought the new Z06.
Now the Z06 is the garage queen.

I needed to replace 2 in my 98 so I just went ahead and replaced them all. I figured if 2 were bad the other 2 couldn't be far behind.

I think the general consensus is 5-7 years.

Looks like you got a great set there. Maybe worth changing them next time you have tires off. Thy're quite pricey though - $80 each I think.

Replacing just the batteries is not an easy task. Used to be a forum member that did that but haven't seen anything from him in a long, long time. The $80 is for the entire sensor.

$80 for the entire sensor I can understand. Replacing the battery I
can understand would not be an easy task. The time to do it would
be when you are replacing tires anyway.

Replacing the battery sounds like real PITA

$80 is to replace the whole sensor.

That would be me. I can replace the batteries in your sensors for a lot less than what new sensors will cost. I just did the sensors in my 98 earlier this year and I only have 15k on her, so you are due. Shoot me a PM if your interested.
