Both my door mirrrors are hanging loose in the wind....Does anyone have
a contact that can fix these? I remember a guy of the forum that can fix these...
I fixed mine last weekend . It took 2-3 hours total . Take the door panels off . Remove the 2 rubber access plugs for the mirrors . Remove 3 10mm mounting nuts . Cut the wire harness . Pop mirror out of housing by using a screwdriver to pry the mirror away from its mounts(1 at the top , 1 on the outside and the pivot in the center). Chances are you will find that the clip that retains the shaft has been pushed off by the spring . I compressed the spring and clip in a bench vice and wired the spring compressed . I drilled a small hole throught the shaft in the old clip groove . I put the spring/clip assembly over the shaft and used a pair of brake spring pliers to push the spring in place . I slid a nail in the drilled hole to retain the spring and clip and cut the wires on the spring . I soldered the wires back together and heat shrinked them . Remount the mirrors to the doors , put the plugs back in , throw the door panels back on and hit the road .
The door panel was soooo easy ! There is an oval shapred plate behind the grab handle , pop it out and remove the 2 t30 torx screws . I just grabbed the door panel by the speakers and gave a pull untill I heard a pop and there was space between the panel and the door then I just worked my way around the panel gently pulling away from the door . Honestly it took more time to find the correct torx driver then it did to take the panel off . The guy who had the car before me tried to glue the assembly together . When that didn't work he used the "Mirror Covers" A.K.A Crap to slow them down . I would drive "spirited" and the mirrors would fold in on acceleration and back out on braking.....
