Watch out...there was another forum member that put a protective film on the nose of his vette for a trip or some reason and when he went to remove it...it peeled his paint off in many large spots.

I buy clear "PVC" HVAC tape from the hardware store... it comes in 1" and 2" wide rolls. I apply it to "blast zones" to protect the finish.

I have used it for years on my "fleet" with great results. It is easy to remove, clean and apply new tape as it gets old and dirty.

If that really happened either the paint was defective or the film was applied incorrectly.

The 3M protective film has been around for years and it works amazing well. Had it on my 2000 and 2004 coupes, as well as my wife's M-B CLK430.
