I had a Pioneer AVIC N1 DVD/CD/Nav unti in the USA. I think the latest is the N3. Its a flip up screen, 1.5 DIN unit so it fits straight into the stock housing
Its a good system although a little complicated to fit.
Is that waht you meant or did you mean Lojack to recover the car if its stolen?
GPS tracking is not a Navigation system for the posters above posting navigation systems.
I have one in my car and I know many others who do as well.
If you want a GPS tracker that is 10 times better than the brick house security link above and much cheaper go to Trackn.com.
Lojack, although well known, is a very poor substitute for a decent GPS tracking system. It has one function: Once you fill out a police report for a stolen vehicle, and only if the vehicle is in a very small coverage area that lojack operates in, they can then "attempt" to locate your vehicle. Thats it.
I'm a cop. Lojack is hit or miss. Once your vehicle is entered into NCIC, basically when a cop calls your vehicle into teletype while filing the report, your Lojack transponder becomes active and starts squaking a signal. I've seen a lot of carjacked vehicles get recovered very quickly due to Lojack. Usually most police helicopters have a receiver and that is what finds Lojack stolen vehicles 4 times out of 5.
However, if they cop drags his feet calling in the car, your car won't start squaking. Also, only cruisers with a Lojack reciever can pick up on that signal, not all cruisers have Lojack recievers. Lojack transponders only squak about 1/2 mile to a mile radius depending on the landscape.
I'm planning on buying a gps unit for my car vs Lojack. I'd rather know where my car is instead of having to go look for it.
Don't know the name but car dealers that sell buy here pay here cars can buy a unit that will show the location of the car and the dealer can disable the car from thier computor if they are late on thier payment. I think cost is 175 to 250 dollars.
That Trackn thing looks nice, Id also like to be able to disable the vehicle from my cell. The Tracn app there can locate the vehicle and disable the starter from a PC, which is nice, but if I see it not where I parked it, Im not likely to have a PC with me :-) (yes, I know I should get a real smart phone instead of this militarized brick Im carrying), and disabling the starter is only going to be a problem once they park.
I wanna have "wrath of Gawd" powers and be able to stop the engine right from the phone. Ill wire up the reserve tank of liquid insulation foam (Great Stuff) to seal them in the car like a fly in amber until I can get over there myself
Buy a Boost Mobile phone cheap off that auction site. For $10 a month it includes GPS. Wire it thru the charger and hide it under the dash. Track it online for free.

I found a site that offers the whole starter kit for the Boost Mobile phone plus a tracking service here.
I happen to have 2 droid phones both with "where's my droid" app. when I travel I leave 1 in the car. If something were to happen I just text gps my droid and have a response in seconds...gives gps location and map.
